Welcome to Culinary!
This class is based on the “seed to table” concept. We will learn where our food comes from, how to grow food, and ultimately how to prepare and eat food. The first semester we will investigate gardens and start to plan a garden for Kenilworth. The second semester we will learn more about how to prepare food and invite guest speakers from local restaurants to share their professional journey and skills with the class. We have many field trips planned for both semesters as well as cooking labs. Your best behavior is required at all times and you must always follow the safety rules in order to participate in all the fun. LET’S COOK!

Cooking projects will be graded on: following directions/ recipe, taste, presentation, creativity, participation, safety while cooking, color and consistency of the food. We will decide as a class which food we will prepare over the course of the year.
Curriculum: Garden planning, recycling, composting, nutrition, how to clean, safety and sanitation, culinary terminology, food critique, and, of course, COOKING! Yes, you get to eat what you cook.
