Global Citizens Club
Join us to become a global citizen, a person who understands that our actions here can affect people around the world, for better or worse. We are living in an ever shrinking world with technology and travel that can link us to cultures and places we may not have come in contact with 100 years ago. Students today need to be better versed in languages, cultural norms, and feel comfortable traveling to foreign places in order to compete in the global economy as well as advocated for the rights of all humans.
Who do we travel with? EF Tours!
Monthly Meetings
We meet once a month at lunch where we discuss exchange rates, cultural norms, watch international movies, discuss world issues and possibly take student driven action. Be the change you want to see in the world! - Ghandi
Annual International Travel
Every summer in late June we will travel to a different international destination. Start saving now!
Who can travel?
Students in good standing at the middle or high school level. Parents and adults are welcome and encouraged to join us! If you have not been a student of mine, Mrs. Galdamez, for at least one year you will need to fill out an application and get 2 teachers recommendations. The application can be found below.
Why travel? Here are my top 10 reasons why travel is important:
1. Provides learning experiences that cannot be contained in a classroom about history, language, culture, art, life!
2. Connects us to other cultures and people
3. Slows us down: Gives us a break from our fast-paced lives
4. Expands our awareness and introduces us to greater diversity
5. Helps us break habits: mentally, physically, and emotionally
6. Gives us time to heal, reduces stress and helps us regain enthusiasm for life
7.Stokes curiosity and awakens our inner child by offering us new, “first-time” experiences
8. Promotes patience by releasing heavy expectations of the “one right way” mentality thereby allowing life to flow more organically
9. Invites the opportunity to get lost and face one’s fears of the unknown
10. Helps you get to know yourself better: the true you is rediscovered
